Services

Heidi's Canine Services provides a variety of programs and services to meet your individual needs.

Please Note: There are no refunds after the initial class or first private session.

Initial Consultation:
Consultations are available to help you understand your canine’s behavior and start you on a training program to meet your needs. Common behaviors that require consultations include aggression, separation anxiety, destructive behaviors, shyness and thunderstorm phobia. In order to determine your specific needs, we will come to your home for an in-depth consultation. Prior to our visit, you will complete a Canine Behavioral History form, which will provide us with an account of your canine’s behavioral issues. The consultation will last between 60 and 90 minutes. Following our visit, you will receive a behavioral assessment, diagnosis and recommendations of treatment options via email or fax.

In our following sessions, we will teach you methods to help you to modify and correct your canine’s identified issues. Methods that we employ include behavior modification, operant/classical conditioning, counter conditioning and desensitization. Furthermore, we may recommend structural changes to your home environment (milieu) that will be beneficial to creating a more harmonious environment for you and your canine companion(s). Additionally we may utilize holistic approaches as an adjunct piece to more traditional methods. These holistic methods may include, but are not limited to, canine aromatherapy, herbal therapy, and therapeutic massage and touch therapy. Ultimately these recommendations will help to foster a happier and healthier relationship with your dog(s)!

These classes are designed for dogs over 6 months of age that have not attended previous classes. It is our goal to help you establish positive communication skills with your dog and also to work on correcting behavior problems. We cover all the material from Puppy Kindergarten, but the material is geared for an older dog that may have more firmly established patterns. Agility Training (Seasonal):
This class is designed to provide you and your canine exercise, bonding and new challenges. Agility began in 1994 and is the fastest growing sport of the AKC. Tunnels, climbing obstacles, weave poles, jumps and other challenging apparatus will help to develop your dog’s natural abilities to run, jump and climb. While Agility classes are open to all breeds, herding breeds and high energy breeds especially excel at Agility. We welcome everyone to come and experience the excitement of Agility! If you are interested in signing up for an Agility training class, please email Heidi with your name, phone number and best time to call to HKWOOF@aol.com.

Breed Selection Consultation:
There are many things to consider before selecting a dog for your household. We start by administering personality and lifestyle tests to determine the most compatible breed for you and your family. We then prepare a list of potential breeders, interview and assess them for health guarantees, and guide and advise you in finding your perfect match. In rare cases, we are available to travel to a breeder for you to select the ideal canine that suits you and your family’s needs. Where rescue dogs are an option, consultation includes searching rescue organizations and shelters for just the right dog for you.
